Honeyboy Edwards
David "Honeyboy" Edwards
Me and 95 year-old, blues legend David "Honeyboy" Edwards in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Honeyboy Edwards left home at 17, and traveled the south by hopping freight trains with his guitar. He won a Grammy in 2008 for Best Traditional Blues Album, and in 2010 he was awarded a Grammy, this time a Lifetime Achievement Award. The photo was taken on April 17, 2011, at the Juke Joint Festival. The festival was his last performance.

Honeyboy Edwards passed away on August 29, 2011.

T-Model Ford
T-Model Ford
Me and 90 year-old, blues legend T-Model Ford in Clarksdale, Mississippi. T-Model has all the credentials of a true Bluesman. He spent time in jail for murder, and his ankles have the scars of working on the chain gang. He has also been shot, stabbed, and poisoned. Ford's unique take on the music is an inspired mix of rough-n-tumble, Delta-born juke-joint jams and stripped-down Chicago style blues, with a side helping of the hypnotic Mississippi Hill country rhythm. His music is raw, raucous, and as close to the primal Delta sound that you'll find these days. The photo was taken on April 16, 2011, at the Juke Joint Festival.

The Cowboy Junkies
Margo Timmins
Me with Margo Timmins, the lead singer for the country/blues/folk band The Cowboy Junkies. The band was formed in Toronto, Canada in 1985. The group's fame spread with their second album, The Trinity Session, recorded in 1987, which sold more than 1.5 milliion copies internationally. The Los Angeles Times voted the recording one of the ten best albums of 1988. The photo was taken on March 23, 2010, at SPACE in Evanston.

Rosie Flores
Rosie Flores
Me with Rosie Flores "The Rockabilly Filly." Rosie whips up the best of rock and roll, honky tonk, early rockabilly, blues and jazz. She was inducted into the Austin Music Hall of Fame in 2007. Rosie was born in 1950, in San Antonio, Texas. Since the mid-1980's she has been a key figure on the alternative country music scene. The photo was taken at The Hideout in Chicago on July 11, 2011.
