Channahon to Aux Sable Lock and Dam

The Dresden Lock and Dam on the Illinois River.

Settlers, enthusiastic about the canal's economic promise, planned many towns along the route that never materialized. One, called Dresden, actually developed until it was bypassed by the railroad in 1852.
