"The Blues is the roots, the rest is the fruits." -- Willie Dixon
The Mississippi Blues Trail marker is located at the south end of Grant Park across the street from the former location of the Illinois Central Station which stood from 1893 to 1974. With the migrants came the Delta blues that was the foundation of the classic post war Chicago blues style. Muddy Waters, who became king of the Chicago blues, was among the thousands of Mississippians who arrived on the Illinois Central trains at Central Station.
